Greater Kudu – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Greater Kudu:
The Greater Kudu is a woodland antelope native to the woodlands and bushlands throughout much of eastern and southern Africa. It is one of two species of common Kudu, the other being the Lesser Kudu. It is one of the largest species of antelope; with males weighing 420–600 pounds (190–270 kg), with a maximum of 694 pounds (315 kg) standing up to 63 inches (160 cm) tall at the shoulder. They are predated on by lions, leopards, hyenas, and hunting dogs. Like many other of the large animals in Africa, the Greater Kudu is threatened by overhunting and habitat loss. The horns of greater kudus are commonly used to make Shofars, a Jewish ritual horn blown at Rosh Hashanah.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%

Artist’s notes:
The Greater Kudu was completed on 6.2.2014. I had been contacted by someone who was following my Facebook page who suggested I consider adding more antelopes to the image library. I love to draw these large ungulates, so when I came across an excellent reference photo by my Flickr friend Tim Randall (who graciously allowed me to use it to create this drawing) I had my next subject. I will likely add more African ungulates (hoofed mammals) in the near future.
