Javan Rhinoceros – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Javan Rhinoceros:
The Javan or Sunda Rhinoceros is one of only 5 extant species of rhinoceros. Of these this animal is thought to be the most rare. Once the most widespread of the Asian rhinos, hunting, wars and habitat loss have reduced their numbers to a handful, and only by extensive conservation efforts has the species been saved – at least temporarily – from extinction. There are no known species living in any of the world’s zoos. These large land animals traditionally inhabited lowland rainforest, wet grasslands and flood plains.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%
Fine art illustration of a Javan Rhinoceros (Rhinoceros sondaicus.) The illustration is available in black and white or color.
Artist’s notes:
The Javan Rhinoceros was completed on 7.16.2010. This was the last of the extant rhinos left for me to draw. It was tricky, as there are very few photos in existence of this very rare a critically endangered animal, and as far as I can tell there are none, or very few, in any zoos in the world. I had to study the existing photos, and read up on the anatomy of the rhino. The finished drawing is pretty accurate, I would hope.
