Knobbed Whelk – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Knobbed Whelk:
The Knobbed Whelk is a very large species of sea snail native to the coastal areas of North America from Cape Cod down to northern Florida. It is especially common on the coasts of Georgia. This mollusk lives subtidally, moving from shallow to deep water, depending on the time of year. It is a predatory sea snail, and hunts other gastropods for food. The shell is especially lovely and ranges from white and pale pink to darker shades of reds, yellows and purple. It is the official shell of both the states of New Jersey and Georgia.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%

Artist’s notes:
The Knobbed Whelk was completed on 7.13.2012. I have been meaning to add more shells to the image library, and the 50 State Project (drawing all official state animals of the USA) gave me the perfect opportunity to do just that, as several of the states on the coast have state shells. I loved drawing this wonderful gastropod and look forward to adding more in the near future.
