Northern Mockingbird – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Northern Mockingbird:
The Northern Mockingbird, perhaps somewhat ironically, generally resides in the southern half of North America, stretching from coast to coast. Mockingbirds grow to be about 8.1-11 inches long (20.5 to 28 centimeters) with a tail nearly as long as the body. The wingspan is about 12-15 inches (31–38 centimeters) and they weigh roughly 1.4–2.0 ounces (40–58 grams) Males are usually slightly larger than the females. It is easily the most commonly encountered of the mockingbirds, and can be found in a variety of environments. It is highly adaptable to living in cities and rural areas. The bird is well known for it’s keen ability to hear and repeat sounds. The bird has been know to nearly perfectly mimic man made sounds such as car alarms and construction machinery such as jackhammers. While the birds are young they are fairly social, but as they grow older they tend to become more solitary, and even fiercely territorial defending the areas they have claimed as their own. It is the official state bird of Arkansas.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

Fine art illustration of a Northern Mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos.) The illustration is available in black and white or color.
Artist’s notes:
The Northern Mockingbird illustration is the first songbird I have created for the 50 State Project (a project where I am drawing all official state animals of the United States. We didn’t have these in Minnesota, where I grew up, but they are quite common in the Bay Area where I now live. I enjoy seeing these active birds, flitting from perch to perch, calling out (occasionally mimicking, alas, the sound of a car alarm.)
