Artist’s notes:
The Sunbittern was completed on 11.10.2013. This is a remarkable bird – while I don’t recall seeing one when I visited Costa Rica many years ago, when I was putting together a collection of animals native to that country I knew I wanted to include this species which had coloration unlike any other species of bird I had drawn. The drawing is based on a photo by A.J. Haverkamp and was used with his permission.
