Artist’s notes:
The Hummingbird Clearwing Moth was completed on 8.17.2013. There are some species of insect that I find so captivating I have to illustrate them. Such is the case with this amazing moth. I’m not clear on the reason for the clear panels in the moth’s wings, but it certainly makes for a very interesting subject to draw. I hope the drawing makes it clear that the panels of the wings are indeed translucent. The drawing is based on a photo by Roy Cohutta and was used with his permission.
