Indian Cobra – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Indian Cobra:
The Indian Cobra – also called the Spectacled or Asian Cobra – is a venomous reptile native to the plains, jungles and open fields of the Indian Subcontinent. It is part of the “Big Four” which are the snakes that inflict the most bites. They are large snakes, growing on average to about six feet long (2 meters) although they can grow larger. The venom of this snake contains a very powerful neurotoxin and cardiotoxin. This venom acts on the synaptic gaps of the nerves, thereby paralyzing muscles. Bites that are not treated with anti-venom can lead to respiratory failure or cardiac arrest. As well as being noted for it’s role in the Indian snake charmer, it is also a highly revered animal in Indian mythology and was also immortalized in the Rudyard Kipling story “Rikki-tikki-tavi.”
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%

Artist’s notes:
The Indian Cobra was completed on 3.2.2013. Cobras are simply amazing subjects to draw – although one of the problems in rendering them is how to best show the venomous reptile because of the highly distinctive distinctive pattern on the back of the hood. But I ended up showing a very traditional pose for the cobra. The drawing is based on a photo by the talented Sunil Sachi – check out his Facebook
