Kaiser’s Spotted Newt – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Kaiser’s Spotted Newt:
Kaiser’s Spotted newt – also called the Luristan Newt, Emperor Spotted Newt or Iranian Newt – is a critically endangered amphibian native to the highland streams, ponds and pool of the Zagros Mountain in the nation of Iran. The entire range of this newt is very small – only about 13-15 square miles – which is one reason it’s considered endangered. Habitat loss and pollution is the greatest threat to these newts. There are many captive breeding programs going on in the world which has helped stabilize their population. They are occasionally kept as pets. It is illegal to capture them in the wild, but because of the pet trade this still happens frequently.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

Artist’s notes:
The Kaiser’s Spotted Newt was completed on 12.26.2014. I have over the last few years found a new method to drive my creativity in selecting species to illustrate. I choose a type of animal and working off images I might already have in the library, I created a series of drawings featuring that animal. It came to me that I only had two newts drawn and that picking some of the more amazing species might make for a nice collage. I researched and learned about this species. Finding a great reference photo on Wikipedia – one that had been released into the public domain by the photographer Dr. R. Bartlett – I created this drawing. I will be adding another 4-5 species before putting the collage together.
