$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Norhayati’s Flying Frog:
The Norhayati’s Flying or Gliding Frog is a member of the genus Rhacophorus, which are tree-dwelling amphibians native to the rainforests of Asia. They are remarkable, as they have the nearly unique ability to “fly” from tree to tree using their large footpad’s webbings extended out to control their fall. These frogs are can be found in Japan, India, China, Madagascar, Africa and Southeast Asia. Along with the family Hylidae they make up the “true frogs.” These frogs, like many amphibians in various environmentally sensitive environments in the world, are in decline due to climate change and habitat loss due to deforestation. The Norhayati’s Flying Frog is named for the Malaysian scientist, Norhayati Ahmad.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

Artist’s notes:
The Norhayati’s Flying or Gliding Frog was completed on 1.18.2012. Back in 2007 I had drawn a Wallace’s Flying Frog, and that image became something of a iconic image for me. That style of illustration became essentially the technique I would use for nearly all future animal drawing. When I came across a fantastic photo of this species – Rhacophorus norhayatii – I decided i would make a nice collage of images to draw some of the more remarkable and beautiful flying frogs of Asia. This drawing is based on a photo by Steven Wong
