Spider Tortoise – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Spider Tortoise:
The Spider Tortoise is native to the island of Madagascar. The common name comes from the resemblance of the patter on the shell to a spider’s web. With a shell size of only about 6 inches, it is one of the smallest tortoises in the world, Due to habitat loss, poaching and removal of individuals for collectors and pet owners, this is also one of the most critically endangered reptiles. More information about the Spider Tortoise can be found on the Turtle Survival website.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%
Fine art illustration of a Spider Tortoise (Pyxis arachnoides.) The illustration is available in black and white or color.
Artist’s notes:
The Spider Tortoise was completed on 11.3.10. Again, I get one step closer to completing all 300 extant species of turtles and tortoises on the planet. At last count I’ve gotten 34 done (13 tortoises, 21 turtles) so I have a ways to go. The drawing of the Spider Tortoise is based on a photo my Michael Ogle who works at the Knoxville Zoo in Tennessee, and has traveled to Madagascar to study and photograph the “at risk” wildlife there.
