The Guianan Cock-of-the-Rock is a South American bird about 12 inches (30 cm) long. The male is brightly colored orange and has a very prominent half-moon crest on it's head. This crest is used is competitive displays in gatherings to attract a female. The passerine bird has a very stout-body. The female much less colorful, bring a dark brownish-grey overall and has a yellow-tipped black bill and a smaller crest. As suggested by its name, the Guianan Cock-of-the-rock is native to the tropical and sub-tropical rainforests of what is called the Guianan Shield, occurring in French Guiana, Suriname, Guyana, southern Venezuela, eastern Colombia and northern Amazonian Brazil. Its preferred habitats are humid forests near rocky outcrops. Hadrosaurus foulkii was a species of dinosaur native to the area that is now New Jersey. It is believed to have lived in the late Cretaceous period, which was about 136 million to 65 million years ago. Only one skeleton has even been unearthed, and this was found in in 1838 by John Estaugh, who was digging a pit when he discovered the bones. The site is now a National Historic Landmark. The Hadrosaurus became the first ever dinosaur skeleton to be mounted. Hadrosaurus was likely a plant eater and walked mostly on it's back legs. The Hagerman Horse - sometimes called the American Zebra is an extinct species of horse that lived from the Pliocene period to Pleistocene period which ended about 11,000 years ago. The name comes from the town in Idaho it was discovered nearby in 1928. The horse was believed to have first appeared about 3.5 million years ago. It grew to about 43-57 inches at the shoulder (110-145 centimeters) and weighed roughly 385 to 847 pounds (110 and 385 kilograms.) The horse likely inhabited grasslands and floodplains where it probably lived in large herds, much in the same way present day zebras live in Africa. It is the state fossil of Idaho. The Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque was built as an Orthodox patriarchal basilica. The site was dedicated in 360. The building was constructed between 532 and 537 on the orders of emperor Justinian. and it served as a church until 1453, when it was converted to a mosque. It was secularized in 1941, and now is a museum. The structure in notable for it's massive dome, which is considered the very essence of Byzantine architecture. The museum holds many religious relics and artifacts, including a massive silver iconostasis (wall of icons and religious paintings, separating the nave from the sanctuary) which is nearly 50 feet long. The building was dedicated to Lagos, the 2nd person of the Holy Trinity.
