Congo Tetras – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Congo Tetras:
Congo Tetras are a member of the family Alestidae. They are native to the warm tropical freshwaters of the Congo River Basin in Africa. They are very popular to keep in aquariums, as they generally do well in captivity as long as their environment closely matches what they would live in the in the wild. They grow to be about 3 inches long (8.5 cm.) Males have somewhat longer fins, and are a little larger and more colorful than the females. These fish are omnivorous and will eat both vegetable matter and live food.

Artist’s notes:
The pair of Congo Tetras was completed on 6.27.2014. As a kid, I always had an aquarium going – sometimes two or three! Most of the tropical fish I wanted I was able to get get at some point. Congo Tetras, however, always eluded me for various reasons. So now that I no longer have an aquarium (I live in earthquake country now!) I’m enjoying adding my favorite fish to the image library. The drawing is based on a photo by Pete Maguire and was used with his permission.
