Information about the Crested Gecko:
The crested gecko, also called the eyelash gecko, is a species of reptile native to southern New Caledonia in the South Pacific Ocean. It was thought to be extinct until it was rediscovered in 1994. Like many gecko, the crested gecko has no eyelids and must use it’s tongue to keep the eyes moist. Although there is a ban on export of the species, it has become popular in the pet trade due to captive breeding programs.

Artist’s notes:
The New Caledonian Crested Gecko line art drawing was completed in 2006 and the digital tinting added in 2007. Geckos are a great subject to draw in ink as are most reptiles. Crested geckos are really cool looking lizards. I often see them at the reptile shows I attend in the Bay Area.
