Artist’s notes:
The Domestic Donkey was completed on 10.5.2011. I had knocked out a few farm animals a few months ago. All told there were seven different animals. I didn’t like the odd number, and thought eight would be better. For reasons I’m not clear on, I was unable to picture what the eighth animal should be! It seems obvious now, but at the time I was simply at a loss. A friend, however, was exploring the website with his nieces, who noticed “a definite deficit of donkeys.” And there came the answer to the question that had stumped me.
