$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Holstein Cow:
Holstein Cows – also called Holstein-Friesian or Friesian Cattle – are a very common breed of cow found throughout the world, and is known as the highest production daily animal. The breed originated in Europe, thought to have been bred from cattle by the Batavians and Frisians, who settled in the Rhine area about 2,000 years ago. They are extremely productive animals, with registered animals accounting for more than 23,000 pounds of milk per year. Holsteins can either be black and white or brown and white. They are large animals, and when Holsteins are full of milk they can weigh 1,100-1,500 pounds.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%

Artist’s notes:
The Holstein Cow was completed on 5.28.2011. Sometime back, I decided to start adding some farm animals to the image library, even though my work has always consisted of only wild animals. The drawing was hard because of the large areas of black, but using some shortcuts in Photoshop, I was able to cover the black without having to stipple every single inch of the paper. The drawing is based on a photo by Virginie Moerenhout.
