Margay – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Margay:
The Margay is a smaller member of the feline family. It is native to southern North America, down through much of Central America and most of South America. Like many other species of cat, the Margay is a solitary hunter. It prefers remote sections of very dense tropical and subtropical rainforests and cloudforests. It looks similar to the Ocelot, but the head is a little smaller with longer legs and tail. The cat weighs from 5.7 to 8.8 pounds (2.6 to 4 kilograms), with a body length of 19 to 31 inches (48 to 79 centimeters), and a tail length of 13 to 20 in (33 to 51 centimeters.) Because of unregulated hunting and habitat loss this cat is considered endangered by some environmental groups.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%
Fine art illustration of a Margay (Leopardus wiedii.) The illustration is available in black and white or color.
Artist’s notes:
The Margay was completed on 4.28.2013. A few months ago I completed a drawing of a Jaguarundi – which at the time I thought was the last “Big Cat” of North America I had left to draw. However, it was pointed out to me that there were two more that I hadn’t drawn (the online poster was cagey, not saying what the species were, but I figured out that one was the Margay and I have yet to learn what the last mystery species might be.) The drawing is based on a photo by Emanuelle Elena.
