The Waxy Monkey Tree Frog – also called the Painted Belly Leaf Frog – is native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. Artist’s notes:
The Waxy Monkey Treefrog was completed on 6.05.09. I had a wonderful close encounter with a Waxy Monkey Treefrog in Palm Springs a few years ago and since then I have wanted to illustrate one. The Waxy Monkey Treefrog followed me and my dog Escher – who was very interested in it but I made him keep his distance. I also sometimes see them in the regional parks when hiking. The drawing is based on a photo by David Tunick.
