Information about the Hawksbill Sea Turtle:
Hawksbill Sea Turtles are most commonly found coral reefs and lagoons of oceanic islands. These turtles are relatively small to medium-sized with a distinctive hawk-like beak. As an adult, the Hawksbill may reach up to 3 feet in length and weigh up to 300 pounds. The decline of this species is primarily due to human exploitation for tortoiseshell.

Artist’s notes:
The line art drawing of the Hawksbill Sea Turtle was completed in 2004 and the digital tinting added by hand in 2007. The original colored version had a different background, which was replaced with the current version. In 2020 the entire image was replaced with the current version.
