Louisiana Crawfish – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Louisiana Crawfish:
The Louisiana Crawfish – also called a crayfish, swamp crayfish or even the amusing moniker “mudbug.” This small crustacean is native range to freshwater swamps, marshes and flooded forests of the Gulf Coast from northern Mexico to the Florida panhandle, as well as inland, to southern Illinois and Ohio. It has also been deliberately introduced into other parts of the world including Europe, Asia and Africa. In some places they have expanded beyond the intended boundaries and are now threatening the native crayfish in those places. These invertebrates are extremely important as a food source, and most of Procambarus clarkii harvested in the world comes from Louisiana. For this reason the state designated this crawfish as the state crustacean in 1983. The population was severely impacted by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010, but since then their number have rebounded in most of the affect areas.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

Artist’s notes:
The Louisiana Crawfish was completed on 7.31.2012. I hadn’t drawn any crawfish (or crayfish where I grew up in Minnesota) but they are a lot of fun to render. Something about these crustacean’s anatomy really is conducive to the techniques I use (pen and ink then tinting using Photoshop and a graphics tablet.
