Malayan Sun Bear – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Malayan Sun Bear:
The Malayan Sun Bear is a medium-sized mammal (about four feet tall, weighing about 120 pounds) native to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia. Males are slightly larger than females. The bear is an excellent climber, using it’s distinctive inwardly turned it feet to help it. It has a large, slender tongue used to extract honey from beehives. Unlike other bears, the sun bear has a short and sleek coat, likely due to the warmer more humid climate it inhabits. It does not hibernate either. The name come from the from the whitish or orangish marking on the chest and muzzle.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%
Fine art illustration of a Malayan Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus malayanus.) The illustration is available in black and white or color.
Artist’s notes:
The Malayan Sun Bear was completed on 2.15.10. The Oakland zoo has one of the few Sun Bears in the US, so whenever I visit I always look forward to seeing their exhibit. The drawing is based on a photo by Ellen of Truus & Zoo. I haven’t made an accurate count, but I’d guess the Sun Bear drawing is made up of about 30,000+ ink dots.
