Information about the Crested Caracara:
The Crested Caracara is sometimes called the ‘Mexican Eagle’. But is more like a something between a falcon and a vulture of the tropics. It has long legs and is a medium-sized bird of prey with a wingspan of about 48 inches. It ranges from the extreme Southwestern US down through Central America into northern parts of South America. It is the national bird of Mexico.

Artist’s notes:
The Northern Crested Caracara was drawn in about 2004 I think and the color added in 2007. I love the pose of this bird of prey. I have never seen one in the wild, but I did observe one at a rescue center in Austin, Texas.
