The Phantasmal Poison Dart Frog is an amphibian who’s natural habitat are the Andean slopes of the Ecuador and Peru. They have vibrant color and a very potent poison, although they are relatively small frogs. The poison from this dart frog is being developed by pharmaceutical companies as a potential painkiller.

Artist’s notes:
The Phantasmal Poison Dart Frog was originally sketched in 2005, but the final drawing was completed in 2008. The image is based on a photo by the talented Swiss herp photographer Reto Siegenthaaler. This is a favorite drawing of mine, so much so I’ve added it my address labels, so it ships out with every order.
