The Powder Blue Tang – also called the Powder Blue Surgeonfish – is a very colorful marine fish native to the warm tropical waters of the Indian Ocean. It’s found in and among the coral reefs, usually in shallow, clear water, where it feed on benthic algae from the rocks and coral. It is a solitary fish, never found in schools. It can be very aggressive and territorial. It grows to be about 9 inches (23 cm) long. It is frequently kept as a pet in aquariums, where the vividness of the blue can indicate how healthy the fish is.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

Artist’s notes:
The Powder Blue Tang was completed on 8.26.2014. I had just drawn a Desert Horned Viper – an incredibly dense drawing, as far as detail goes – so I wanted to follow up with a fairly simple drawing. The Powder Blue Tang illustration (which is based on a photo by Ron DeCloux and used with permission) was the perfect choice. The detail in the tail fin took a little longer than I had thought, the but adding the digital tinting was relatively easy.
