Rainbow Scorpionfish – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Rainbow Scorpionfish:
The Rainbow Scorpionfish is a bottom dwelling fish, commonly in the reefs, rocky areas and kelp forests in the Eastern Pacific: California, USA to Peru and the Galapagos Islands. A common but inconspicuous species. They have earned their name, as they have sharp spines with a venom gland, and these can inflict a nasty sting if they’re provoked. Otherwise, these brightly colored fish tend stay hidden, rather than actively hunt, preferring to ambush any prey that wander close to them. They feed on small gastropods, crustaceans and fish, using the enormously powerful suction of their mouths to gulp up prey.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

Artist’s notes:
The Rainbow Scorpionfish was completed on 2.10.2011. I as get more and more interesting in SCUBA diving in the Pacific, the animals of the reefs and kelp bed grown in interest to me. I find myself illustrating animals I wasn’t even aware of recently – like the Wolf Eel and Copper Rockfish . The drawing is based on a photo by Charlene-SJ.
