Song Sparrow – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Song Sparrow:
Song Sparrows are members of the Emberizidae family, which are seed eating birds with a distinctive shell. They are common birds found throughout most of North America. They prefer to live in brushy areas, as well as marshes (both freshwater and saltwater.) Along with seeds, these sparrows will also eat insects and those that live in saltwater marshes may also eat small crustaceans. As the name illustrates the Song Sparrow is known for it’s song, which you may hear here . They are very common birds, and any trip into an area they may be, they will be easy to see perched on a shrub or fence post, leaning back and singing. These birds generally know about 20 different songs, but each song may have dozens of variations.

Artist’s notes:
The Song Sparrow illustration was completed on 10.4.2011. A few weeks back a firm in Massachusetts contacted me about a potential project and provided me with a list of possible illustrations. When this happens, I sometimes go over the list and do a little research on the various species, as often these are common animals that I might not be familiar with. On this list was the Song Sparrow, and I realized this charming little bird should be added to the image library regardless of whether I was awarded the project or not. The drawing is based on a photo by Ron Wolf.
