Veiled Chameleon – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Veiled Chameleon:
The Veiled Chameleon is a species of reptile found in the mountain regions of Yemen, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia. It is also sometimes called the Yemen chameleon. Like most chameleons, the Veiled Chameleon is specialized to live in the trees. The body is flattened to resemble a leaf, and the hands and feet of the animal are specially adapted to grip onto branches. The long, darting tongue is used to grab insects from the canopy. It is actually not sticky, but rather muscular in order to “grab” their prey. The Veiled Chameleon in addition to feeding on insects will eat leaves, blossoms and fruits. These chameleons are prized by pen owners and are very popular to keep in captivity. Like all chameleons, they have very specific lighting and diet needs, so they are not recommended for beginners.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%
Fine art illustration of a Veiled Chameleon (Chamaeleo calyptratus.) The illustration is available in black and white or color.
Artist’s notes:
The Veiled Chameleon was completed on 2.27.2013. Chameleons are a favorite subject of mine – in fact one of the first animals I drew back in 1997 was a chameleon. Needless to say, they are fun to draw, although the density of their textured skin makes them a great challenge. The drawing is based on a photo by Mike Martin.
