The Pine Marten is a smaller member of the family Mustelidae. The Arapaima - sometimes called the pirarucu or paiche, is a very large tropical freshwater fish native to the rivers, streams, lakes and floodplains and flooded rainforests of South America. It is considered a "living fossil" and is one of the largest freshwater fish in the world, reaching lengths of over 6.6 feet (2 meters) and weighing over 220 pounds (110 kg.) Due to commercial fishing, as the Arapaima is a much sought after foot fish, very few large specimens can be found in the wild today. It is a top predator in it's environment feeding on other fish, crustaceans and even small mammals that might venture too close to the water. Because it breathes air, it is especially successful in hunting other fish when the waters recede, trapping other fish reliant on oxygen in the water. Deprived of their air they become sluggish and disoriented, making them easy prey for the Arapaima. Northern Tamandua Anteater – Signed Fine Art Print

The Northern Tamandua is a small, rainforest dwelling anteater native to tropical and sub-tropical areas of southern Mexico, down through much of Central America and to the northern range of the Andes Mountains in South America. It is also sometimes called the "Vested Anteater" due to the distinctive vest of brown fur on it's mid-section. As the name implies, it feeds on ants and termites that it laps up using it's sticky saliva and tongue, which it swallows whole because it has no teeth. It is mostly arboreal, spending much of their lives in the rainforest canopy, using it's prehensile tail to help navigate through the trees. When the Tamandua feels threatened, it will stand on it's hind legs, spread it's arms out and attempt to appear to large to eat. There are four recognized subspecies of Tamandua mexicana. The American Paddlefish is a large freshwater fish and member of the order Acipenseriformes, which are primitive ray-finned fish. It is also called the Mississippi Paddlefish or Spoonbill. They are found in the slow moving waters of the Mississippi River drainage system. They were once also found in Lake Erie, but it appears they have been extirpated from there. This very large Chondrostean fish can grow to a length of about 7 feet (220 centimeters.) It is one of two living species of paddlefish, although the other - the Chinese Paddlefish - is likely extinct. The American Paddlefish was once common in it's native environment, however due to habit loss and overfishing, the species is now considered vulnerable in most areas.
