Chimpanzee – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Chimpanzee:

Chimpanzee, also called simply as chimp, is the common name for the two extant species of ape in the genus Pan where the Congo River forms the boundary between the native habitat of the two species. Chimpanzees are members of the Hominidae family, along with gorillas, humans, and orangutans. Chimpanzee are thought to have split from human evolution about 6 million years ago and thus the two chimpanzee species are the closest living relatives to humans. Chimpanzees will make tools and use them to acquire foods and for social displays. These apes have sophisticated hunting strategies requiring cooperation, influence and rank; they are status conscious, manipulative and capable of deception; they can learn to use symbols and understand aspects of human language including some relational syntax, concepts of number and numerical sequence. Recent studies and observations have shown they are capable of spontaneous planning for a future state or event. Aye-Aye – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Aye-Aye:

The Aye-Aye is a strepsirrhine primate native to Madagascar. It's the world's largest nocturnal primate. It is the is the only extant member of the genus Daubentonia and family Daubentoniidae. This unusual looking animal combines rodent-like teeth and a specialy adapted thin middle finger. It fills a similar ecological niche as the woodpecker. The Aye-Aye is characterized by its unusual method of finding food; it taps on trees to find grubs, then gnaws holes in the wood using its forward slanting incisors to create a small hole in which it inserts its narrow middle finger to pull the grubs out. This foraging method is called percussive foraging. The only other animal species known to find food in this way is the striped possum. Due to habitat loss  - as well as the native peoples seeing the animal as a bad omen and symbol for death causing them to kill them out of superstition - the Aye-Aye is classified as endangered. Fire-Bellied Toad – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Fire-Bellied Toad:

The Fire-Bellied Toad, also known as the Oriental Fire-Bellied Toad, is native to the southern part of Russia into northeastern China and parts of Korea and Japan. This toad inhabits forests, open meadows, river valleys and swamps. They are generally found in slow moving waters such as lakes, ponds and steams and even occasionally in ditches and puddles. The toads feed on a variety of insects including flies, beetles and ants, but will also take worms and snails. Oriental fire-bellied toads are medium-sized, growing to a length of about 2 inches (5.5 centimeters). The backside of these amphibians are covered in bumps that look a little like warts. Their coloration range from bright green to brownish gray, and their bellies are smooth with a mottled pattern of red and black. The coloration is used as a defensive measure, as some predators will see the bright red color and be fooled into thinking the toad is poisonous. Due to their color as ease of care these amphibians are very popular in the pet trade.
