The Western Green Toad - Anaxyrus debilis, also classified as Bufo debilis, is a species of amphibian native to the arid areas of the Southwestern North America, specifically the states of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas and Texas, as well as in northern Mexico. They are also popular pets and do well in captivity. They are not a large toad, growing to 2 inches in length. They're active only at night, and can be found during and immediately after periods of heavy rainfall, which is uncommon because their habitat is semi-arid and often very dry. Wood frogs feed on whatever small invertebrates they find on the forest floor or among the leaf litter.
