The Tufted Puffin - also called the Crested Puffin - is a pelagic seabird and and member of the Auk family. It is native to the oceans and coastlines of the North Pacific Ocean. It is one of three members of the Fratercula genus. They are about 15 inches tall (35 cm) The males being somewhat larger than the females. Like the other three puffin species, the Tufted Puffin feeds almost exclusively on fish, which are caught by diving from the surface. Their wings are smaller and are more adapted for for underwater swimming than flight. Occasionally squid or other cephalopods are eaten. They can carry a large amount of fish in their bills and bring them back to the nest to feed their young. The Trumpeter Swan is the heaviest bird native to North America and is the largest waterfowl species on the planet. Adults usually grown to 54–65 inches long (138–165 centimeters) - although large males can be slightly larger. They are very heavy birds, weighing up to 15–30 pounds (7–13.6 kilograms) Wingspan ranges from (73 to 98 inches (185 to 250 centimeters.) These birds were once on the edge of extinction, due to overhunting for their feathers and lead poisoning due to shotgun pellets. Despite these challenges the IUCN considers them to not be threatened (although the state of Minnesota has them listed as threatened.) The Tundra Swan is a small Holarctic swan native to the Arctic and Sub-Arctic regions. These large birds have high-pitched honking calls and sound similar to a black goose. They are particularly vocal when foraging in flocks on their wintering grounds; any conspecific arriving or leaving will elicit a bout of loud excited calling from its fellows. Contrary to its common name, the ground calls of the Whistling Swan are not a whistle and neither notably different from that of Bewick's Swan. The flight call of the latter is a low and soft ringing bark, bow-wow...; the Whistling Swan gives a markedly high-pitched bark in flight. By contrast, the Whooper and Trumpeter Swans' names accurately describe their calls – a deep hooting and a higher-pitched French horn-like honk, respectively. Flying birds of these species are shorter-necked and have a quicker wingbeat than their relatives, but they are often difficult to tell apart except by their calls. The Ruddy Duck is a duck from North America and the Andes Mountains of South America. It is one of the "stiff-tailed ducks." Their breeding habitat is marshy lakes and ponds. They nest in dense marsh vegetation near water. The female builds the nest out of grass, locating it in tall vegetation to hide it from predators. A typical brood contains 5 to 15 ducklings. They are migratory and winter in coastal bays and unfrozen lakes and ponds. These birds dive and swim underwater. They mainly eat seeds and roots of aquatic plants, aquatic insects and crustaceans. As a result of escapes from wildfowl collections, they are now established in Great Britain, from where they have spread widely into Europe. This duck's aggressive courting behavior and willingness to interbreed with the endangered native White-headed Duck, of southern Europe, has caused some concern. Due to this, there is now a controversial scheme to extirpate the Ruddy Duck as a British breeding species; there have also been culling attempts in other European countries.
