Artist’s notes:
The Black Oystercatcher was completed on 2.8.2014. I recall the first time I saw these striking birds on the coastline of Mendocino county in California. I’m trying to draw all of the common shorebirds you might encounter on the beaches of California. It took me some time to get to this species, but I’m happy to add it to the image library. The drawing is based on a photo by Gail West and was used with permission.
