Artist’s notes:
The Thirteen-Lined Ground Squirrel was completed on 3.19.2013. This drawing is part of a series of illustrations that will be used for a series of signs for a nature trail that will be attached to a private company in the city of Eagan, Minnesota. I’m always glad to draw a small mammal like this, especially one native to my home state of Minnesota. These charming little rodents have a great pattern on their coats, and I wanted to show one feeding on a nut, as this is how we often see these animals. The drawing is based on a photo by Greg Goebel.
