Information about the Viceroy Butterfly:
The Viceroy Butterfly is a North American butterfly that can be found in most of the continental US including parts of southern Canada and northern Mexico. They have a wingspan of about 3 inches. The Viceroy is considered a mimic of the Monarch Butterfly. The difference is that the Monarch is large and doesn’t have the postmedian line that runs along the bottom of the Viceroy’s lower wings. Both butterflies taste bad to predators. It is the state butterfly of Kentucky.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

• Opacity: 94%
Fine art illustration of a Viceroy Butterfly (Limenitis archippus.) The illustration is available in black and white or color for immediate download.
Artist’s notes:
The Viceroy Butterfly was completed in 2007. However, for quite some time I had misidentified it as a Monarch Butterfly. After several months and many more emails from concerned butterfly enthusiasts and entomologists I created a new Monarch drawing and relabeled this drawing with the correct common name.
