Aardvark – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Aardvark:
Aardvarks (also sometimes called Anteaters and Antbears) are the only living members of the order Tubulidentata. They are large, burrowing mammals native to sub-Saharan areas of Central Africa and into the southern parts of the continent. The name ‘aardvark means ‘earth pig’ or ‘ground pig’ in Afrikaans/Dutch. The aardvark is mostly nocturnal, and they feed almost exclusively on termites and ants. Despite appearances and similar behaviors the aardvark is not related to the South American Anteater.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%
Fine art illustration of an Aardvark (Orycteropus afer.) The illustration is available in black and white or color.
Artist’s notes:
The aardvark was completed on 12.7.2010. This is one of those animals that I grew up curious about, but didn’t really think about until I started knocking down more and more of the African Mammals. I was surprised to learn they are the only extant member of their order – all others have gone extinct. These are handsome animals and I really enjoyed rendering it.
