Information about the Loggerhead Sea Turtle:
The Loggerhead Sea Turtle is the only member of the genus Caretta, which is a latinization of the French word “caret” which means turtle. They are large ocean going reptiles, growing up to 800 pounds and 3.5 feet long. The Loggerhead Sea Turtle feeds on mollusks, crustaceans, fish, jellyfish and other marine animals. Due to environmental factors and past predation of the turtles by humans for meat and their beautiful shells these turtles are considered endangered and are protected by international law. It is the official saltwater reptile of the state of Florida.

Artist’s notes:
The black and white inked version of the Loggerhead Sea Turtle was completed in 2004 and the colored added in 2007. The original background was removed in 2008 and replaced with the current one. Which is one of the great things about working in Photoshop – I can go back and tweak drawings, change colors, and replace or remove backgrounds.
