Malayan Porcupine – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Malayan or Himalayan Porcupine:
The Malayan or Himalayan Porcupine is a rodent native to the forests of South and Southeast Asia. They prefer areas where they can find burrows to spend the day, as the species is mostly nocturnal emerging only at night to feed. Like other porcupine species Hystrix brachyura feed on roots, tubers, bark and fallen fruits, as well as carrion and insects. While the species is not considered endangered, due to habitat loss, hunting for it’s meat as well as the quills of the porcupine being used for ornamental purposes the species faces an uncertain future.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%

Artist’s notes:
The Malayan or Himalayan Porcupine was completed on 11.25.2014. Porcupines are amazing rodents, as they’re unique in the animal kingdom with their manner of defense – those amazing quills. I decided to put together a collage of four different porcupine species (two Old World porcupines, two New World.) This is the last of the four and I will probably not return to the subject for some time.
