The Ocean Sunfish, also called the Common Mola, is the heaviest bony fish in the ocean. They can weigh up to one ton (2,000 pounds) The fish is native to tropical and temperate seas. They feed mostly on jellyfish and, because of the low nutritional value, they must consume massive amounts of them to develop and sustain their large size. Sunfish can swim up to depths of 2000 feet.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

Artist’s notes:
Ocean Sunfish are really remarkable looking fish. I’d been meaning to draw one for some time and in 2008 I got the chance. The image is based upon a few different photos. I feel the three-dimensionality of the fish really is successful here. As I’ve started diving in the kelp forests off the coast of California, I hope to one day see these very unique looking fish.
