San Francisco Garter Snake – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the San Francisco Garter Snake:
The San Francisco Garter Snake is a small, slender reptile that is found only in and around San Francisco peninsula and southwards towards Santa Cruz. This snake is endangered and it’s thought that there are less than 2,000 of one of the sub-species remaining. It is a secretive and shy snake, rarely encountered by accident, unlike the more common garter snake. Due to human development and loss of it’s natural habitat the future of this colorful colubrid snake is very uncertain.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%

Artist’s notes:
The San Francisco Garter Snake was completed on 5.31.2010. There are a couple different color patterns of this snake, the other being more orange-ish and with black rather than blue. As always with snakes, getting the pattern of the scales correct is vital. While I had some problems, I think this little snake turned out pretty good. The drawing is based on a photo by Victor Abbley.
