Fine Art Drawing of a Burrowing Owl
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Burrowing Owl:
The Burrowing Owl is a small predatory bird with long legs found in a variety of environments throughout much of North and South America. Adult owls measure 7.5–11 inches long (19–28 centimeters) with a wingspan of 20.0–24 in(50.8–61 centimeters) and weighing 4.9–8.5 ounces (140–240 grams.)These birds live in small groups, and can be found in grasslands, deserts and even in urban areas and cities, provided there is enough open area with low vegetation. Unlike most owls, Burrowing owls are active during the day, with hunting done primarily at dusk and dawn. The owls do not dig their own burrows, but rather take over ones already created by prairie dogs, badgers or ground squirrels, or ones that have been abandoned.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

Artist’s notes:
The Burrowing Owl was commissioned by Stackpole Books for Laura Erickson’s ‘101 Ways to Help Birds.’ The image was drawn in 2005 and the color added in 2008. If the image hadn’t been commissioned it’s likely I would have drawn a Burrowing Owl anyway as owls are a favorite subject of mine. Not far from where I live in Berkeley, there is a burrow of owls I’m told, but so far I haven’t been able to find it.
