Trumpeter Swan – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Trumpeter Swan:
The Trumpeter Swan is the heaviest bird native to North America and is the largest waterfowl species on the planet. Adults usually grown to 54–65 inches long (138–165 centimeters) – although large males can be slightly larger. They are very heavy birds, weighing up to 15–30 pounds (7–13.6 kilograms) Wingspan ranges from (73 to 98 inches (185 to 250 centimeters.) These birds were once on the edge of extinction, due to overhunting for their feathers and lead poisoning due to shotgun pellets. There has been several programs that have attempted to reintroduce them into their native range with only moderate results. Despite these challenges the IUCN considers them to not be threatened (although the state of Minnesota has them listed as threatened.)
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%

Artist’s notes:
The Trumpeter Swan was completed on 9.11.2012. This is the second drawing that was commissioned by the art director of Sunset magazine, which should appear in an upcoming issue, perhaps in the fall. I had been meaning to draw a Trumpeter Swan for some time, so this was a good opportunity to create an illustration. I examined several different reference photos, and found an excellent one by Lynn Stone.
