Costa’s Hummingbird – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Costa’s Hummingbird:
The Costa’s Hummingbird is a small species of hummingbird – an adult grows only to about 3.5 inches (7.6–8.9 cm) long. The male Costa’s Hummingbird’s most distinguishing feature is its vibrant purple cap and throat. Females are much less colorful than the males. The Costa’s Hummingbird is native to the arid, brushy deserts and any nearby gardens of the Southwestern United States and the Baja California Peninsula of Mexico. Like other species of hummingbird the Costa’s feeds on flower nectar and any tiny insects that it happens to find in the flower petals. The name is a tribute to the French nobleman Louis Marie Pantaleon Costa, Marquis de Beauregard (1806–1864).
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%

Artist’s notes:
The drawing of a Costa’s Hummingbird was completed on 5.23.2013. Hummingbirds are such amazing animals. While I’ve only drawn a few of them – five before adding the Costa’s – I have plans to add several more, and hopefully at some point illustrating all species native to North America. The drawing is based on a photo by Edward Lai, who is a talented wildlife photographer who lives in British Columbia, Canada
