Hooded Mergansers – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Hooded Mergansers:
Hooded Mergansers are small ducks, growing to about 13 inches long and having a 26 inch wingspan. They are the only members of the genus Lophodytes, and there are only three other mergansers that occur in North America. They feed by diving underwater collecting fish, amphibians, aquatic insects and crustaceans as they swim. Like many ducks the Hooded Merganser is sexually dimorphic. These ducks prefer fast moving streams with shorelines full of dead trees.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

Fine illustration of a pair of Hooded Mergansers (Lophodytes cucullatus.) The illustration is available in black and white or color.
Artist’s notes:
The Hooded Mergansers were completed on 8.5.09. Like many of the ducks, mergansers are sexually dimorphic, so it’s best to draw both the male and female. I enjoy seeing mergansers when they visit the Bay Area, so they seemed like a good subject to draw. The drawing is based on a photo by “MN Guides.”
