Peacock Bass – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Peacock Bass:
The Peacock Bass – also called the Peacock Cichlid, Butterfly Peacock Bass or Eye Spot Cichlid – is a large fish native to the rivers and streams of South America, notably the Amazon and Orinoco rivers. The name might have from the local name in Venezuela which roughly translates into “Peacock.” But it might also have been a marketing ploy to get anglers interested in the species. It is not actually a bass but a member of the family Cichlidae. There are about 15 recognized sub-species. It has been successfully introduced into areas such as Florida and Hawaii where it is much prized as a game fish.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%

Artist’s notes:
The Peacock Bass was completed on 8.20.2014. One of the really wonderful things about illustrating animals is all the information I learn when researching them. The Peacock Bass, for example, if not a bass at all but rather a cichlid native to the rivers of South America. I had always thought it was a native North American species. The drawing is based on a photo by Flickr user Umschauen and was used with permission
