Artist’s notes:
The South American Coral Snake was completed on 8.18.2013. I’m putting together a collection of venomous snakes of South America, and I thought that the collection would be incomplete without the infamous coral snake. There are many subspecies, and often those snakes have various “common names.” I chose the Micrurus lemniscatus because it seemed to be fairly widespread. I also loved the pose of the reference photo I used (taken by the talented Pierson Hill and used with his permission.) I have a couple more snakes to go before the collage will be completed.
