Griffon Vulture – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Griffon Vulture:
The Griffon Vulture is an Old World vulture native to various environments from northern Africa, much of central Europe and through the Middle East and into the Indian subcontinent. They are large birds of prey, reaching about 37–48 inches long (93–122 cm) with a 7.5–9.2 foot (2.3–2.8 m) wingspan. Like other vultures, it is primarily a scavenger, feeding on dead animals. It finds these by soaring high above the landscape, using it's keen vision to locate food. Due to habitat loss, as well as accidental killing by poison the numbers of these vultures have decreased greatly in the last few decades. This is a problem as they are key in the removal of decaying corpses and helping avoid disease and contamination.
